Our Reception – Rothko

Hello! Welcome to our class page and a taster of what we are up to this term. Our teacher is Miss Morrison.

Here are some details about our class artist Mark Rothko (1903-1970).

Born in Russia, he and his family moved to the USA when he was 10 years old. They struggled for money but Rothko worked hard at school and earned a scholarship to Yale University. His style changed over the years starting with realism before becoming more abstract. He felt simple shapes were best for showing complicated feelings.

Please take a look, in more detail, at this term's curriculum.
