We are proud to be a Church of England Primary School and our ethos reflects this – so our school community enjoys very strong links with St Peter's Parish Church and we are regular visitors there for both educational and spiritual purposes.
The pupils learn about our local church including its history, functions and traditions. We take part in February's Candlemas celebrations and many of our children perform in the annual Christian-focussed play staged by the church.
At Christmas, the Foundation Stage to Year 4s perform the Nativity there while the Year 5s and 6s take part in a Carols and Readings Concert.
Messy Church is another activity that is well supported by Oundle CE Primary School familes. It takes place on the third Saturday of every month from 3-5pm at St Peter's Church. Everyone is welcome at Messy Church although it tends to appeal mostly to families with primary school age children. It is a way of being part of a church community that is easy for families, as adults and children are encouraged to take part in fun, creative activities before joining together for a short time of exploring a Bible story with some singing and prayer. We finish off with a meal for everyone. Messy Church is free and there is no need to book, so just come along.
There are lots of other events at our church which we would encourage our children to become involved with.
